We are seeking for the DW Akademie office in Windhoek, Namibia as of 1 May 2025 or as soon as possible a Project Associate (f/m/d) based on a full-time (100%) or part-time (min. 80%) local staff contract initially limited until 31 December 2026.
THE ROLE
- support the project team in implementing the EU-funded project “Eco Dialogue Collective – Empowering Media and Civil Society for a Transparent Green Future” and BMZ-funded projects in Namibia
- assist in budget preparation, expense tracking, monitoring, and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with financial policies, especially procurement procedures according to donor requirements
- prepare and process financial transactions, including invoices, payments, and reimbursements, and maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- liaise with external consultants and DW Akademie’s project administration team in Germany, and brief local partner organizations on financial issues such as budgets and accounting
- work closely with the other team members based in Namibia and Germany and provide administrative support for project activities, including travel, accommodation, event logistics, and maintain up-to-date project documentation and records
- manage office supplies and equipment, ensuring accurate inventory lists, and assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and conferences
- support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information, and assist in monitoring and evaluating project phases
- prepare stakeholder and network meetings with partners, institutions, and organizations
PROFILE
- undergraduate degree (Bachelor) in finance, accounting, business administration, or related fields or equivalent qualification
- several years of relevant professional work experience including experience in administrative support and financial management for international donor-funded development projects, in compliance preferably with EU and BMZ regulations
- strong numeracy skills and proficiency in budget preparation, expense tracking, financial reporting, and compliance with donor requirements
- proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and financial management software
- excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently and under pressure and perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including international teams, partners and external consultants, with a hands-on and solution-oriented approach to work
- strong communication skills with professional language proficiency in English; proficiency in further Namibian languages is an advantage
- high level of intercultural competence and respect for diversity, openness to working in a diverse, multicultural, and multidisciplinary environment
