ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (tenure track), Department of Psychology, St. Thomas More College
Applications are being accepted for a tenure-track position in the department of Psychology with an applied child development emphasis at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, with a projected start date of July 1, 2026. In addition to holding a tenure-track position, the successful candidate will also be named the Lois M. Brockman Professor in Child Development. This position title, along with its associated research funding and reduced teaching load, is subject to review and renewal every three years and is dependent on the degree to which the candidate applies their knowledge of child development to their practical work.

Requirements for the position include a Ph.D. in psychology or relevant discipline with an emphasis on child development (completed, or near completion, by the time of the appointment). The successful candidate will demonstrate how they draw upon developmental theory and science to address the needs of children and how they will apply this knowledge to support optimal development in children in our community. The successful candidate will also demonstrate excellence or the promise of excellence in teaching, research, undergraduate and graduate supervision, as well as administrative and professional service. In working with children, specific experience with community-based research methods, EDI-oriented research methods, and/or Indigenous centered research and methods is an asset. The successful candidate will also demonstrate an ability to contribute to St. Thomas More’s distinctive minor in Social Justice and the Common Good and will be expected to demonstrate a willingness to connect their work to the mission of the College.

STM collaborates with University of Saskatchewan departments to offer undergraduate and graduate programs in the humanities and social sciences, providing a rich interdisciplinary environment for scholarship. Additionally, the STM Department of Psychology works in collaboration with the University of Saskatchewan’s Department of Psychology & Health Studies to offer undergraduate programs (3- and 4-year Bachelor of Arts or Science degrees and a 4-year interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts and Science in Health Studies) and graduate programs (Cognition and Neuroscience; Culture, Health, and Human Development; Applied Social Psychology; Clinical Psychology).
Salary bands for this position are: Assistant Professor $99,945 to $120,099; Associate Professor $120,099 to $140,253. This pay rate falls under the 2017-2022 Collective Agreement [extended to 2023] between STM and the St. Thomas More Faculty Union (STMFU). We offer a comprehensive benefits plan.
