Assistant Professor – Math and Computer Science

The appointment will be made at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor and will commence on August 1, 2025, subject to budgetary approval. Candidates must have an MSc or PhD in Computer Science and have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.

The successful candidate will teach four on-campus undergraduate courses in Computer Science in the 2025-2026 academic year, which are provisionally planned to be: Principles of Programming Languages (COMP 3711) and Operating Systems (Comp 3911) in the fall term, and Introduction to Computer Science (COMP 1631, team-taught with another professor) and Programming Techniques and Algorithms (Comp 1731) in the winter term. COMP 1631 makes extensive use of an active learning model and experience with such a pedagogical approach is considered an asset. We are also moving towards including ethics across the curriculum and presently this includes COMP 1631. Calendar descriptions for these courses can be found at: https://www.mta.ca/academic_calendar/23-24/ComputerScience.html.

Applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching experience and interests, and letters from three referees with at least one (preferably two) addressing teaching skills. In their cover letter, applicants should comment on their preparedness to teach both lower-year and upper-year CS courses, their potential to succeed in a team-teaching environment, their openness to or experience with active learning models, and ethics, diversity and inclusion curricula in a CS context.

Applications must be submitted online at www.mathjobs.org. Applications will be accepted until Friday, March 21, 2025. Cover letters should be addressed to:
