Main purpose of the job:
The Communications and Public Diplomacy Intern will support the delivery of Embassy events and communication campaigns, including the Great British Festival.
The successful candidate will work as part of the British Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Team. Under the direction of the Digital Diplomacy Officer, the intern will develop multimedia content for Embassy channels and contribute to the planning and delivery of cultural diplomacy campaigns. We encourage interns to propose creative and innovative ideas to support the delivery of high-quality, impactful campaigns for the British Embassy’s audiences.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:

Provide support to the implementation of the Embassy’s communication campaigns and high-profile events, including the Great British Festival.

Assist with the development of high-quality, engaging digital content to be used across social media and other digital channels. This includes event coverage (photo and video), publication material design, digital asset management, and copywriting.

Contribute to social media content calendars and forward planning, monitor social media channels around priority and emergency issues related to the UK government, conduct social media analysis and evaluation, and identify opportunities to reach and engage existing and new audiences.

Provide general communications and administrative support to the Public Diplomacy team, such as updating the media database and maintaining forward planning tools.
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:

Strong, proven skills in digital content creation, copywriting, content management, social listening, and web editing.

Highly skilled in graphic design, with experience using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, or equivalent.

Highly skilled in photography, videography, and editing, with experience using Adobe Premiere or equivalent.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong understanding of design concepts and ability to adapt to the latest digital trends.

Proactive attitude and ability to learn quickly.
Desirable qualifications, skills, and experience:

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.

Familiarity with events management would be an advantage.

A broad understanding of the Philippines’ political, economic, media, and cultural environments; an active interest in Philippine and global current affairs; and awareness of the role of the UK.
