Background
International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) has been implementing activities to support refugee and vulnerable Jordanians with impairments and disabilities in the health, protection, and education sectors in Amman, Irbid, Zarqa, and Karak.
Between April 22 and May 15, several key project activities will be taking place that IOCC would like to document through stories and pictures. The pictures will be used for donor reports, social media, project visibility, and other publications.
Purpose
IOCC is seeking a skilled, local photographer to capture images of IOCC’s project activities, including (but not limited to): diagnosis appointments with disability specialists, provision of assistive devices, rehabilitation sessions, and specialist consultation appointments. Additionally, IOCC will be holding a large event that requires a photographer to capture.
Objective
The selected consultant will provide IOCC with photography services, capturing project health, education, and protection activities, as well as a project event, in support of documenting project activities and communication and reporting materials.
Scope of the Assignment
The consultant will provide high resolution digital photographs for use in visibility materials, human interest stories, social media, reports, website content, and other communications and reporting purposes.
Project activities will take place in Amman, Irbid, Zarqa, and Karak, Jordan.
IOCC will provide transportation between field locations and IOCC’s office in Amman.
One day for photography at each of the following locations should be scheduled (on an agreed day with IOCC):
- For project activities, between April 22 and May 8:
- Sweileh, Amman,
- Zarqa city, Zarqa,
- Irbid city, Irbid, and
- Karak city, Karak.
- For project event, date to be determined in May (prior to May 15).
Actual dates will be confirmed following selection of consultant and scheduling of activities and event.
At all times the consultant will be required to adhere to the Code of Conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOs in Disaster Relief.
The consultant is expected to demonstrate appropriate behavior and sensitivity when on assignment. No photos should be taken without written consent (via consent forms).
Deliverables
For each day of field visits (four days), the consultant should submit at least 75 edited, high-quality digital photo files [both RAW files (300 pixels/inch: minimum size 3000 x 2000 pixels and JPEG files (1000 pixels longer edge) for each image] with accompanying captions (including the subject’s name, age, nationality, location, and description of photo – in a separate file) delivered to IOCC on a portable storage device and via WeTransfer by May 10.
Additionally, for the event (one day), the consultant should submit at least 250 edited, high quality digital photo files [both RAW files (300 pixels/inch: minimum size 3000 x 2000 pixels and JPEG files (1000 pixels longer edge) for each image] delivered to IOCC on a portable storage device and via WeTransfer by May 15.
The copyright of all photos and photo materials produced (raw and edited) from the assignment will belong to IOCC Jordan. The consultant may not use the photos and photo materials for other purposes without express written permission of IOCC.
Payments will be provided based on deliverables and in JOD.
Consultant Requirements
- Resident of Jordan
- Command of Arabic and English
- At least 3 years’ experience as a professional photographer
- Good command of own photographic equipment to be used for assignment (such as, but not limited to): camera, lenses, tripods, and lights
- Experience working with INGOs and taking photos of INGO activities
- Knowledge on ethical standards of photographing vulnerable populations, such as children and persons with disabilities
