The Master of Forensic Accounting Program is a 10-course program offered at the graduate level, primarily on a distance education basis, using a problem-based learning model supplemented by web- and email-based sessions. The Program currently has the following Sessional Lecturer position available for the Fall/Winter term and invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who are not current University of Toronto students. Course title: Fraud Prevention, Risk Assessment & Investigation, Data Analytics & Security (IFA 1905H)

Dates of appointment: November 11, 2025 – January 20, 2026

Description of course:

IFA1905H will provide a continuation of the examination of fraud, and its investigation, as well as rubrics for the assessment of fraud and approaches to fraud prevention. The second half of the course will be devoted to an examination of the use of computers for data analysis and analytics in forensic matters, as well as their use in cybercrime, and how computer security can be protected and maintained. The understanding and the roles required of a forensic accountant in these matters will be considered.

IFA1905H will be taught online in 8 once-per-week, interactive sessions, 3 hours in length, followed by an invigilated examination in the 9th week. There will also be an individual assignment and a group assignment.

Instructor

The Instructors in the course will be responsible for liaising with the MFAcc Director and/or his nominee when required. New program development as per the requirements of the curriculum mapping. Meeting with students on-line for three hours per week for a total of 8 weeks using the Program’s preferred online systems (Quercus, Adobe Connect, Zoom). Answering emails from students on a short-delay basis at other times during the week, as required. Consultation with the Director and other Instructor when appropriate.

Minimum qualifications: Preferred qualifications are either PhD in relevant discipline (completed) or for non-University of Toronto graduate students, in progress, or relevant qualifications, professional designation or professional experience. We are seeking previous experience in teaching, teaching excellence, and mastery of subject area. Previous experience in teaching a similar course is highly desirable.

Salary: $17,930.13 for the course, however divided accordingly between the Instructors

Anticipated enrolment: 20-25

Minimum TA support: 45 hrs
