Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Director, Coordination Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission for Italy and Malta, and the direct supervision of the Integration Specialist and Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Project Management Team based in Italy with the implementation of the activities under the THAMM Plus Project.
The THAMM Plus programme builds on and complements the regional action “Towards a Holistic Approach to Labour Migration Governance and Labour Mobility in North Africa” (THAMM) phase I and II funded by the EU Trust Fund for Africa and phase III funded by the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation (NCIDI)-Global Europe (NDICI-GE).
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Provide (in language) general information on national laws and administrative procedures connected to labour and social inclusion, as well as access to services;
- Translate and/or update non-official customized information materials for labour migrants coming to Italy as part of the labour mobility scheme;
- Support the monitoring of migrant workers’ inclusion in the workplace and in Italy, including the compilation and submission of monitoring questionnaires, if needed;
- Support the Project Management Team in maintaining regular communication with beneficiaries;
- Assist with administrative tasks in the financial and procurement aspects related to the project implementation, in line with IOM rules and regulation;
- Support relocation beneficiaries on air and ground transportation during national and international movements, if required;
- Undertake duty travel, if required;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- High school diploma with three years of relevant experience; or
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited academic institution with one year of professional experience.
Experience
- Experience in the field of migration, with a particular focus on migrants’ inclusion, access to services and labour market integration;
- At least three years of experience in offering direct assistance and counselling to migrant communities in Italy;
- Previous experience with international organizations, NGOs and/or EU Agencies would be an asset.
Skills
- In-depth knowledge of socio-economic inclusion aspects of migration;
- Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills, in a multi-cultural setting;
- Knowledge the Italian Immigration Act and other national regulations for migrant workers;
- Proficiency in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages.
Languages
- For this position, fluency in Italian, French and Arabic is required (oral and written);
- Knowledge of English is considered an asset.
