Promotion Director

Position description

Peace Through Action® USA inspires and equips everyday people to increase safety, belonging, and peace in their relationships and communities by cultivating their compassion and increasing their constructive communication and conflict resolution skills. We accomplish our mission by producing events and resources for exploring civic and social concerns, sharing examples of inspiring community peacebuilders, encouraging spiritual self-care and anchoring, teaching practical peace skills, supporting personal and small group action planning for peace, bolstering community peacebuilding efforts, and advocating for a socially just society. Our mission activities contribute to the advancement of a nation abundant with peaceful people choosing peaceful practices and creating peaceful places. The breadth of our mission activities situates us in the peacebuilding, public health, public safety, social care, youth development, adult learning, volunteerism and service, civic engagement, and civil and human rights fields of the U.S. social sector.

Duties

  1. Contribute promotion activities and performance measures to the organization’s annual plan.

  2. Develop, implement, and monitor activities to recruit volunteers for delivering Peace Accelerators skills training and action planning activities and for writing Peace Explorers resources on social distress and peace practices subjects.

  3. Attract participants to national virtual learning events (Peace Explorers) and local community peace project events (Peace Agents).

  4. Interview and publicize model community peacebuilders (Peace Promoters).

  5. Assist in the editing and publishing of Peace Through Action materials.

  6. Co-produce with the programs director video recordings to train Peace

    Accelerators volunteer activity leaders.

  7. Develop, implement, and monitor campaigns to generate small- and medium-

    sized gifts of money from individuals.

  8. Develop and maintain monthly communications schedule and metrics reports.

  9. Write copy and produce images, audio recordings, and video recordings with

    various purposes and then disseminate them internally through Peace Through

    Action’s media and externally.

  10. Monitor general news group shared mailbox and spot resources and events for

    sharing with Peace Through Action audiences.

  11. Improve people relationship management software contact segmenting and maintain currency of contact records.

  12. Optimize, maintain, and report performance metrics from organization’s website and social media channels, manager suites, advertising accounts, and analytics accounts.

  13. Add to and maintain promotion procedures, guide, visual brand files, materials, webpages, files library, promotion team shared mailbox, and promotion news group shared mailbox.

Qualifications

Knowledge
Understanding of marketing steps and practices.
Understanding of communication landscape and trends.
Fluency in social media platforms, social media manager suites, WordPress, Google Ads, and Google Analytics.
Proficiency in design software, including Canva and applications within Adobe Creative Cloud.
Fluency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Files Explorer, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word.

Skills
Developed marketing plans.
Converted members of the general population into cause supporters and donors. Wrote high-quality communications of various types.

Abilities
Speak comfortably and confidently on audio recording and video recording. Produce creative suggestions and solutions.
Practice interpersonal collegiality and patience.
Work independently with focus and determination.
Adapt to changing objectives and circumstances.
Maintain fidelity to organization’s visual brand and high expectations for our written words.

Experience Requirements

Three or more years performance of marketing, communication, public relations, or writing duties in employee, independent contractor, intern, or volunteer positions.

Education Requirements

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in a marketing, communication, public relations, or writing area of study.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent and at least seven years’ experience in marketing, communication, public relations, or writing in employee, independent contractor, intern, or volunteer positions.
