Public Policy Manager, Executive Branch

Position description

Meta is seeking a Public Policy Manager to help lead our outreach to national security and foreign policy agencies within the Executive Branch of the US government on both policy issues and adoption of our technologies. This person will also advise internal stakeholders on national security and foreign policy issues related to AI, supply chains, geopolitical risk, and other topics. Candidates will have established relationships and experience working at the federal level on national security and foreign policy issues, broad expertise in national security issues, and an understanding of the policy debates around national security and emerging technology. You will help the policy team liaise with the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and Meta’s Product Policy, Partnerships, and Product teams. In this role, you will also collaborate with the US policy team to develop thinking on key public policy issues that impact the future of the internet at one of the world’s leading internet companies. You should be passionate about the services we provide — including and especially open source technologies — and the people that we serve.

Public Policy Manager, Executive Branch Responsibilities

  • Develop policy positions on national security/foreign policy-related issues affecting Meta’s products and services

  • Identify, monitor, and analyze national security/foreign policy-related issues affecting Meta at the Federal level

  • Articulate our policy positions in internal meetings, briefing papers, consultation responses, and other fora

  • Advise Meta teams on national security/ foreign policy-related matters to guide development of products, services, and policies

  • Represent Meta in meetings with key USG and other relevant stakeholders

  • Convey Meta’s positions to external audiences

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 12+ years of public policy experience, including 2+ years of experience working in Federal Legislative or Executive Branches

  • Experience in the development of national security/foreign policy and/or experience designing and implementing advocacy strategies to influence those policies

  • Experience with emerging technology policy

  • Experience communicating policy positions with internal and external stakeholders

  • Bachelor’s degree in international relations, public policy, political science, or a related field, or equivalent policy experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing USG security clearance

  • Experience working within the Department of Defense

  • Public sector enablement and/or acquisition experience

  • Experience working in-house on a policy team or public sector enablement team at a tech or defense company

  • Advanced degree in a policy or technology-related field
